TIP
OF THE WEEK ~ SERVE
FOLLOW THESE 5 STEPS TO A BETTER SERVE
1. Be consistent.
Get the ball in the court at all
costs. Make your opponent return the ball. The advantage
is yours to start with.
2. Put directional intent on placing the ball.
Moving the ball around in the court will keep
your opponent off guard.
3. Keep the ball deep in the court. The closer to
the service line the more difficult it is for the
receiver to get into the point. It will also keep
your opponent on the defense.
4. Implement different types of serves into your
serving routine. The flat serve needs to be only
one of many types of serves. Others are spin,
slice, and kick serves. By serving in other types
of serves your opponent is kept guessing as to
what is coming and keeps them on the defense.
5. When all of the above are clicking and working
add a little more pace to the serve. This will
give your opponent less time to respond and
puts them at your mercy.
